MAC's 2011 Wonder Woman Collection Review (2011)

Hey guys! Star Strukk here with a review for the MAC Wonder Woman Collection that was released on 2/10/11. So I purchaced this collection with no excitement whatsoever thinking to myself "Eh, it's just MAC, it really has to be something AMAZING to blow me away" and luckily I did not get excited because as always MAC has found a new way to pull a fast one on their customers. So lets get into this "Wonder Woman" Collection. I decided to buy 3 out of the many products that they had to offer because even from a birds eye view, I was not impressed. The quads were unoriginal, they look similar to the other basic eyeshadows that MAC carries all year around and the blushes were even a bit too Barbie for me. I felt like the face products (blush/mineralize skin finishes) were not suitable for women of darker color (Unless your goal is to look like a clown). Even the sharpie-like Penultimate Eye Liner was nothing special. I bought a similar eyeliner from L.A Girls for $1.45 and it works WONDERS. MAC released four pigments from this collection and all I can say is four words: Been there, done that. The pigments that were in the WW collection, you can most likely purchase them any time of the year. There were no rare items and there was nothing that was needed to be purchaced on impulse. Now let's get into the opulash mascaras, there were four colors: Black (Black), Purple (Victorious), Blue (Themyscira) and Green (Army of Amazons). I purchased Themyscira to match my hair (of course). After one coat of mascara, I knew that this product was going to be a disappointment. The color did not show up whatsoever unless you were literally two inches near my face then maybe you could catch a GLIMPSE of the blue, but other than that you couldn't see a thing. Themyscira's got nothing on Dior's blue mascara. I even owned a mascara from Mary Kay that showed up a trillion times better than Themyscira. Now that tells you something.

The second and third products that I purchased from this collection were a lipstick and a lipglass. The lipstick was titled
Spitfire and the lipglass was titled Athena's Kiss. I must admit, I did get a fuzzy feeling on the inside for these two products because, well, they're my two favorite things: Pink and Lipstick. So when I got home, of course these were the first things that I tried out. After looking in the mirror for about 2 minutes, I said "Hm. It's pretty, but it looks familiar" and I'm rummaging through my lipland collection in my bathroom and ahah! There's my trusty and faithful Girl About Town. (Also a MAC lipstick) So I did a swatch to see if I was crazy and what do I see:
They're almost the EXACT same color. After that, I was through. I returned every last one of those products within the speed of light. It's like MAC just takes the same products and labels them with different names so we all can spend hundreds (even thousands) of dollars on duplicates.

Never again will I be sucked into another fictional character collection. Or any collection from MAC because I've seen it all before. MAC, you should really step your game up and get some brighter colors and stop tricking people into buying what they already own.

Wonder Woman? Pfft, more like Polly Pocket.
